틀리기 쉬운 영문법, 어법 (3) - 태(Voice) 1 수동태와 능동태

이번에도 저번에 올렸던 시제파트2와 마찬가지로 이번엔 "태"에 대해, 공부하다가 틀렸거나 헷갈렸던 문장을 정리하는 차원에서 블로그를 통해 해설과 같이 올린다. 역시나, 아래 문장에서 완벽하게, 틀리는 것 없이 오류를 잡아냈다면 영문법에 있어서 꽤 내공이 있다고 봐도 된다.

"태"에 관한 간단한 정리부터하고 넘어가겠다.
1. 타동사 : 능동태로 쓰일 때 목적어를 수반하는 동사. 뒤에 목적어가 없다면 수동태 가능성이 높아짐.
* 뒤에 목적어가 남는 동사의 수동태 : give, ask, tell, show, teach, offer, send, pay, lend 등
* 뒤에 목적격보어가 남는 동사의 수동태 : consider, call, name, elect, appoint 등
2. 자동사 : 수동태 절대 불가
시험 빈출 대표적인 자동사 : appear, occur, seem, happen, remain, arrive, rise, result, disappear, consist of, fall, turn out, exist, look like 등

1~6.밑줄 친 부분 중 맞는 것을 고르세요.
1. Successful people have learned the value of simply staying in the game until success won
/ is won . [모의,대수능]

2. The branches cut off from the trees are steamed, boiled, and then washed many times to remove / be removed any impure materials. [기출 예문]

6. At first, it was really hard and frustrating / frustrated to be thousands of miles away from
home, studying alone abroad. [어법끝]

7~8. 밑줄 친 부분 중 틀린 것을 올바르게 고치세요.
7. I have accepted a new position at a publishing company. The decision was not an easy
one, and involve much consideration.

8. A few people (A) have recognized the value of certain wild plants in Korea. They (B) are
fascinated by the beauty of these plants and (C) have motivated to conserve them after (D)
discovering the threats the plants face. [기출 예문]

* 해설
1번 답 : is won
해석을 해보면 성공을 얻는 것이다. 따라서 수동태가 와야한다.

2번 답 : remove
단순히 해석을 해서 답을 내리면 해석의 함정에 빠지기 쉽다. 뒤에 목적어가 나오므로 능동이 적절하다. 본인도 해석으로 대응하다가 틀린 문제다.

3번 답 : makes
해석상 어렵게 만드는 것이므로 능동이 적절. make, think, consider, believe, find 뒤 it 보어(to-v, that S+V) 가 온다는 걸 잊지 말자.

4번 답 : using
천문학자들이 사용하는 것이므로 능동 적절.

5번 답 : frightening
학교에서의 첫주가 나에게 두려움을 일으키는 것이므로 능동이 적절.

6번 답 : 위와 동일
해석 상 좌절감을 주는 것이므로 능동 적절.

7번 답 : involved
뒤에 목적어가 오므로 능동 involved가 와야한다. 여기선 과거시제이므로 시제일치를 시켜준 것이다.

8번 답 : have motivated 를 have been motivated 로 수정한다.
해석상 동기를 부여 받는 것이므로 수동태 have be p.p 가 와야한다.
