“Transhumanism” is a blanket term given to the school of thought that refuses to accept traditional human limitations such as death, disease and other biological frailties. And “transhumans” are defined as a new species that the human might eventually become, a new kind of being transcending human limits in all forms.

The so-called “transhumanists”, a group of radical thinkers who have emerged in the last decade, are typically interested in a variety of futurist topics, including space migration, lifespan expending, perpetual increase of knowledge and mind uploading. They seek to achieve these goals through reason, science and technology. Mostly atheists/agnostics, they are also extremely interested in more immediate subjects such as bio- and nano-technology, “cyborging” and artificial intelligence, computers and neurology.

“Transhumanists” deplore the standard paradigms that attempt to render our world more comfortable at the sake of human fulfillment. Life needn't be an exclusively biological phenomenon. That is, “transhumanism” is the idea that new technologies are likely to change the world so much in the next century or two that our descendants will in many ways no longer be “human”.
