파생어, 다의어 정리 (4) - 어근 ject 에서 파생되어 나온 subject, project 총정리

subject : sub ( = under) + ject( = throw)
- 결국 아래로 던지다 란 뜻이 형성 된다. 따라서 다양한 뜻이 파생되고, 단순히 subject 를 주제로만 해석하면 문장을 해석하는데 큰 오류가 발생할 수 밖에 없는 것이다.

아래로 던지다 하여 지배를 받는 신하나, 실험대상, 국민들등의 다양한 뜻이 파생되는 것이다.

(형용사) ~에 종속되는, ~의 영향 하에 있는, ~ (당)하기 쉬운
(동사) ~에 종속 시키다 (타동사로 쓰임)

project : pro( = forward) + ject(=throw)
위 subject 와 파생되는 원리는 같다. 다만 pro 가 붙어 앞으로 던지다 란 뜻이 형성되는 것이다. 따라서 단순히 계획이라고 해석하면 해석시 큰 오류가 발생한다.
