'contingent' 에 관하여

자주 쓰이지 않지만, 알아두면 요긴할 어휘 - contingent 입니다.

contingent는 '우발적인, 돌연한' 정도의 뜻을 보유하고 있으며

보통 전치사 on과 함께 쓰이면서 'contingent on' '~을 조건으로 하는'의 뜻이 파생됩니다.(upon과 혼용)

 

contingency 는 '만일의 사태' 뜻으로 파생되며,

contingent fee, job, worker 등, 다양한 용도로 사용됩니다.
