This phenomenon can be attributed to the fact that a greater number of individuals would opt for public transportation such as buses or subways, as the cost of driving would be significantly higher. Research has demonstrated the efficacy of free transit in cities that have adopted this policy. In one instance, public transit use exhibited an increase of over 15 percent, while the percentage of cars on the road decreased by nearly the same amount. This finding suggests that the provision of complimentary public transportation may contribute to a reduction in vehicular traffic.

 

In summary, the implementation of free public transit would yield a number of positive outcomes, including a reduction in traffic congestion and the subsequent economic benefits for families. In this regard, it is my position that individuals should not be subjected to public transportation fees for the reasons previously enumerated.
