밑줄 친, 두 표현 어떻게 해석하는 것이 옳을까요?
먼저 single out의 경우, 하나로 지목해서 꺼내다, 즉 '지목하다' 정도의 뜻이 형성됩니다. 파생된다면 '고르다' 뜻이 형성되겠죠.
그리고 play favorites 의 경우, 좋아하는 사람과 논다 정도의 의미로부터 '편애하다'의 뜻이 파생됩니다.
